The leaves are changing color and gracefully lining our streets as we speak.  Now, in this beautiful season, is the time to go on some beautiful hikes around Corvallis. If you live in the area and are looking for some of the best hikes, you’re in the right place.  This city is home to a population that spends a good chunk of their time on the trail.  Of course, you could always just visit Oregon State University and be awed by all the vibrant fall colors there, but if you’re feeling more adventurous, here are some of the best hikes for you and your family to enjoy.

Chip Ross Park

On this popular trail head on the north edge of Corvallis, you can either do a quick and easy loop to see views of the city and the Cascade Range, or you can hike a bit longer to the summit of Dimple Hill.  Either way, it’s a fairly easy hike perfect for a romantic walk and a great place to walk your dog!

Bald Hill Natural Area

One of the reasons why hikers love to go in Bald Hill Natural Area is because it is home to many species of animals, including deer, elk, foxes, wild turkeys and more.  There are plenty of trails for you to choose from that will bring you to the top of the hill with an overlook of Mary’s Peak as well as the Cascade Range.  We also recommend doing a short night hike and do some stargazing!

Peavy Arboretum

With five different trails for you to choose from, Peavy Arboretum offers everything from scenic Coast Range views to old-growth forests.  Take the Section 36 and Powderhouse Loop for the most scenic trail which includes mountain vistas and a strange lake.  Another local favorite is Management/Calloway Creek Loop, Forest Discovery Trail and Woodland Trail. The Arboretum is a great place for spotting beautiful trees and plants and enjoying a picnic with some friends.
